“Come and See”; Jesus said these words to two of the disciples, and he continues to say them now. “Come and See”, by speak with the Vocation Director who can answer many of the questions that you may have. “Come and See”, means to follow the invitation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I entered priestly formation originally for a religious community, but with time and prayer, I discerned that God was calling me to be a diocesan priest in the Diocese of Brooklyn. Before becoming a seminarian I worked as a teacher in high school.
The journey to priesthood involves time, prayer and other people. One takes time to discern the calling. For any man considering priesthood, he must pray; he must be willing to listen to the Lord. Finally, this road to the priesthood involves many other people; priests, seminarians, family and friends. These people will help you on the journey. I would say to one considering a vocation to the priesthood, please speak with a priest; you are not alone, your parish priest will help you on this journey and he will direct you to others that can help.
I want to be a priest in Brooklyn and Queens to be a witness of the Gospel. I desire to share the message of Jesus Christ to the diverse community of the faithful in this great diocese. If you are thinking about the priesthood, get involved in your parish; come to know the priests in your neighborhood. The priests whom I have known in my parish had a huge impact on me. Fr Ronald Legerme was one of the priests who have been the influence on my decision to become a priest.
Prayer is essential to discerning a vocation. One must allow the Holy Spirit guide your life. There are many different types of prayer that can be helpful; but none is more important than the MASS. I found that going to Mass; help me to know what God wanted me to do.
