To those thinking of joining the priesthood here in the great Diocese of Brooklyn; please know that I am praying for your vocation everyday, and please know that you are never alone in your discern to the priesthood of Jesus Christ.

I entered into priestly formation in September of 2006, after I finished high school. Ever since I was a young, I have always wanted to help others. When I entered Louis D. Brandies High School, I though that by becoming a lawyer I would be able to help and serve others.  It was not until my second year, that I started to seriously discern a call to the priesthood. I discovered that I can do more good for God's people as a priest.

Before becoming a seminarian, I worked as the parish sacristan at Blessed Sacrament in Cypress Hill.  Even though I am from Brooklyn, I am an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots; I blame my mother for my fanaticism for these teams.  My friends and family were extremely supportive of my decision to enter the seminary. I have been blessed with a strong support base from my friends from high school, including some of whom were not even Catholic.

I want to be a priest in the great Diocese of Brooklyn; because, this is where God wants me.  I have visited other dioceses, from our nation and around the world, and I can say that the Diocese of Brooklyn is truly unique. The Diocese of Brooklyn have so many different cultures, most of which you would rarely all be found in any other single diocese.

Life as a seminarian is a life of study and prayer.  It is a life of formation; a seminarian is not made into a priest, rather he is formed as a priest. If a young man feels he may have a vocation to the Priesthood of Jesus Christ, then he must pray.  Over time if he still feels called, he should apply to the seminary.

For those considering a vocation to the priesthood, here in this great Diocese that serves the people of God in Brooklyn and Queens; I would suggest that you pray.  Pray before the Blessed Sacrament frequently, read about the saints of the Church.  Pray for your own vocation, and be open to the calling that God has for you. Finally, talk to your parish priest or to any priest, they truly can help you.
